1) What is the Book to Film Screenplay Search Contest?

What is the Book to Film Screenplay Search Contest? The book to film screenplay contest is an innovative way to bring greenlighters together with authors who have already told their stories; been published or have self published, and built a fan base, of loyal readers that think their works will make a great film.

2) How does the process work?

How does the process work? We accept your already published book for review to determine if it will make a great screenplay; present it to a group of producers who have agreed to work with us as we embark on this endeavor to cut through much of the red tape that keeps great stories from the hands of studios, producers, and independent filmmakers, such as agents. (We have an in-house agent for producers that still require an agent).

I have an agent, can we still work together? Absolutely! But for the authors that do not, we aren't going to dismiss their works.

4) Who are the panelist?

Who are the panelist? The panel is comprised of producers, screenwriters, actors, actresses who have had previous experience in films, producing etc.

5) What other factors are there in the selection process?

What other factors are there in the selection process? Book Clubs. Book club members know best what titles they have already read and would like to see make it to the big screen. We are polling book clubs and requesting that they suggest their choice.

6) How many titles will win?

How many titles will win? Ultimately 1 for the Book to Film Project. There is also a 2nd place and 3rd place winner. (Those from pitch fest segment) More on the prize packages to come.

Do you have someone aboard that can help me adapt my book into a screenplay? Yes. However, our listing is compiled of independent screenwriters that are not affiliated with the Book to Film Screenplay Search Contest. If you like a list, please click here

8) When Will the Winner Be Notified?

When Will the Winner Be Notified? Winners will be announced at the Book to Film Festival in Feb of 06. That will give us sufficient time to review all screenplays submitted, collect feedback from book clubs, book reviewers, producers, etc, and make a decision.

9) Can the book be submitted if I don't have a screenplay written?

Can the book be submitted if I don't have a screenplay written? No. We're sorry, but we can only accept the actual screenplay adaptation of the book. This is a screenplay contest.

10) What Must Accompany the Screenplay?

What Must Accompany the Screenplay? Please forward a logline along with your submission. ALSO, PLEASE DOWNLOAD AND SUBMIT THE RELEASE FORM USING THE LINK ABOVE. You may also download the release form from the entry fee page.

11) Do I still need a release form since my book is already published, and the story is based on the book?

Yes. It must accompany all submissions. You will be prompted to download the form online when you submit your title.

12) How many screenplays can I submit?

As many as you like as long as they are adapted from a previously published novel.

13) Can my screenplay be over 130 pages?

Can my screenplay be over 130 pages? No. Screenplays must be 90-115 pages.
